kinda Tiny house

I managed to build a tiny house & an art fence from scratch in just 35 days in collaboration with my friend Harry Crofton with no start plan, & using over 90% recycled & reclaimed materials.  It has always been a dedicated and purposeful choice to use primarily found materials in my work. The hope is that this project can act as an example of how it is possible to re-imagine a world that is both beautiful and useful, built greener using practices of repurposing. Transforming the disregarded/ discarded, the refuse that most might see as trash, into a radiant space to share with community … is actual magic.

One week prior to starting I gathered and reclaimed all the wood and windows I could. As part of that collecting I traded a piece of art I made in 2006 with a friend for three truck loads of lumber that was milled for me (turned one tree into slabs for the floor & stairs, plus 2x6 beams & trim boards) from Douglas fir trees downed by PG&E on their land. A ton of lumber was also salvaged from @manosmorenas.oak old Botanica.

……

This labor of luv was made possible with the help of many friends, lending a hand throughout the two months total it took to pull this project offff!!!  Salvaging, hauling, building, sanding, painting, borrowing tools, cleaning and making meals ~ community showing up and showing out made this possible
